PG Department of Chemistry has organized a workshop on ‘INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR) AND PATENT’ by Mr. Subrahmanya Bhat, General Manager – ONGC (Retd), Bengaluru for faculties and students of SDM College at PG Centre on 27th March 2019. He gave vivid expression of Indian Patent Laws and need to file a patent for the discoveries made in research work of the Institutions. Many researchers are unaware of the benefits of Intellectual Property Rights and Patents. In spite of several hurdles to get patent for a product or procedure, he insisted that teachers should strive hard to get patents for their research work. He explained the importance trademarks and copyrights by individual researchers and authors of text books. He advised not to sell the Intellectual Property Rights to the publishers while publishing books.
