The Kannada Department at SDMC Ujire conducted a special ‘Folklore presentation’ event on the 6th of February 2019. The famed Padmashree awardee Sukhri Bomme Gowda was the Chief Guest of the program. She being a popular folk singer in the area was accompanied by two of her associates, Kucchilavva and Neelavva, who together presented a mesmerizing folk performance with music and dance. Another Chief Guest of the day, the Director of Uttara Kannada district Sahitya Parishat, Aravinda Karki also emphasized on the importance and essence of local folklore.
A documentary on Sukhri Bomme Gowda was screened at the occasion. The Principal of the college Prof. T N Keshava and Kannada department faculty were present at the occasion.
