Department of English

Established in 1966

The department was established to train students in language skills and literary studies. It offers 4 Semester English Language Courses to BA/BSc/BCom Programmes, 2 Semester English Language courses to BCA/BBA Programme, 4 Semester Additional English courses to the foreign students and 6 semester English Literature courses in BA Programme. Thrust areas of the department for research are Indian Writing in English, English Language Teaching, Translation Studies and Cultural Studies. The faculty members of the department have successfully carried out 5 UGC Funded Minor Research Projects. The department emphasizes experiential learning through community orientations, training programmes, certificate courses, wall magazines, guest lectures and literary appreciation programmes.
