Department of Physics

Established in 1966

The department is one of the earliest departments established by the institution way back in 1966 offering the subject as an optional subject in BSc. It has been recognised as the Centre for Innovative Teaching by DST, Govt. of Karnataka. Having spacious laboratory well equipped with quality instruments, the department is empowering students through effective teaching learning process imparting quality education which focuses on top class quality jobs.

The co- curricular, extra curricular and extension activities are organized through the Departmental association ” SPECTRA “, involving the student representatives.

Community Orientation

  • The Department regularly organizes a unique programme called Lab in Cab where laboratory equipments are carried to rural schools for on the site demo and interaction
  • The department conducts Share lecture series for the students of Nearby High schools.

  • Shashishekara  N. Kakathkar Persuing Ph D from Tumkur University on the topic “Intensive study of microstrip patch antenna with special reference to yoga mudras”. Completed Minor Research Project on “Design of micro strip antenna for intensive investigation of higher bandwidth”  under UGC Grant of Rupees 159000 during the period 2013-2016
  • Satheeshchandra S Perusing Ph D from Tumkur University on the topic “Synthesis,growth and structural investigation of pi conjugated NLO  materials”
  • Keshava T.N  Pursuing PhD from Tumkur University on the topic “An analytical study on the feasibility of energy storage in the form of compressed air and its suitability for the agrarian requirements of Malnad regions of Karnataka”.
