Inter-Library Membership

Inter-library membership is a facility through which libraries can share our resources and make a wide range of them accessible to our students. Through this collaborative facility, libraries can ensure maximum reach of distinctive resources to deserving students, no matter where they are located. SDMCU library has inter-library memberships with a number of entities-

  • Mangalore University Library, Mangalore
  • 22 sister institutions of SDM which include colleges of higher learning. This collaboration with SDM libraries is made possible through EERPMS, in-house developed software.

Library automation

EERPMS, software developed in-house allows complete automation of the SDMCU library ranging from acts of automated borrowing of books to ensuring that every student spends at least 40 hours a month using library’s resources. This system enables the library to keep a check on stock and generate reports on trends of library usage at frequent intervals. Through this system, we identify best library users at the end of every month through the automated facility.

SDMCU library also has DSpace, a digital library setup that houses student research projects, CAL packages, E-journals, E-books and content related to science and technology; freely accessible for all students.

Orientation program

The library conducts an orientation program for all newly admitted students at the beginning of the academic year. The library staffs familiarize the students with all the facilities, responsibilities, regulations and benefits related to library usage. This tradition has ensured that students are well aware of all dynamics of the library and make the best use of it.
