With a goal of strengthening the Science wings of the college, the central government of India has recognized SDM College Ujire under the ‘STAR’ College scheme.
A grant of Rs. 82 lakhs has been sanctioned by the Biotechnology wing of Central Science and Technology Ministry to SDM College Ujire. Botany, Chemistry, Physics and Biotechnology departments of the college have been identified under the scheme. The grant shall be utilized for betterment of science labs, organization of workshops and conferences and other student-centric activities in the respective departments.
‘STAR’ College scheme is an attempt to increase the professional scope in the graduation level itself at various institutions. The recognition of SDMC Ujire under this scheme is a third accomplishment in a row, after the college has also been recognized as ‘Mentor institute’ under NAAC and as a patron of B.Vocational courses under UGC. STAR recognition adds to the list of most recent central government recognition of SDM.
