The Department of Botany organized a Webinar on Medicinal Plants, Raw drug identification, and Standardization on 14.09.2020. Dr. Harish C Rudrappa, Head of Pharmacognosy department, Gujarath Ayurvedic University. Ahmedabad Gujarath was the resource person. This program was convened by Dr. Kumara Hegde B. A HOD of the Department of Botany and Coordinated by Mr. Ganesh V Shendye and Ms. Shakunthala B, Assistant Professors of the Department. 178 participants were present for this webinar event.
Dr. Harish C Rudrappa with his expertise in the field of Taxonomy and Pharmacognosy explained many medicinal plants with their identification using Name, Colour, Touch, Taste, Taxonomy, Anatomy, and Phytochemical evaluation. He compared many parameters to convey the identity of the plants keeping different categories of people like laymen, Non-botany professionals, and Professional Botanists. With self-explanatory slides, he was able to convince the objectives of the webinar i.e. identification and standardization of medicinal plants and raw drugs to the participants. The session was concluded with questions and answers, where many participants interacted with the resource person.
