The valedictory programme of academic activities of Department of PG Studies and Research in Chemistry for the year 2022-23 under the banner CONCHEM, (Consortium of Chemists), the departmental association was organized on 21July 2023. Chief guests of the programme were Dr. Ashok Kumar T, Principal, SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire and Dr. B. Shivarama Holla, Former Head and Professor of Department of PG Studies and Research in Chemistry. Dr. Nefisath P, Assistant Professor and Secretary of CONCHEM, gave a brief introduction of Dr. B Shivarama Holla and the department felicitated Dr. B S Holla. In his speech, he encouraged the students to pursue doctoral studies in reputes institutions and abroad as well. He also used an anecdote of C V Raman’s life to explain the students, the importance of honesty along with ability.
The Chief guest of the programme Dr. Ashok Kumar T delivered the valedictory address in which he emphasized on the importance of basic sciences which are the main pillars of Engineering studies.
President of the programme Dr. Vishwanatha P, Dean, PG Studies and Head of the Department of PG Studies and Research in Chemistry, recounted the success of the events conducted in the academic year. He also mentioned that the contribution and suggestions of Professor B S Holla has helped the growth and upliftment of the department.
Ms. Swati Hegde from Second M.Sc. Organic Chemistry welcomed the gathering. Ms. Soujanya Shetty from Second M.Sc. Organic Chemistry introduced the Chief guest Dr Ashoka Kumar T. The prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions which held under the association for the academic year. Ms. Supriya K from First M.Sc. Organic Chemistry and Ms. Shruthi from First M.Sc. Chemistry narrated the programme. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. Shashanth B from Second M.Sc. Chemistry.
