Ujire, Dec,17: The second day of orientation for the first year Post graduation students of academic year 2020-21 commenced with the orientation address by Prof. Ravishankar Rao Department of English, Mangalore University.
Speaking at the occasion he said, what you are at the point of entry and what you will be at the point of exit must be dramatically different. Also he urged the students to have a positive attitude as every crisis is a challenge and one must face it instead of blaming it on others. You are transiting now to a higher level of learning. So, the task is to equip, empower and enable you with the necessary skills.
Prof. Ravishankar added that, Marks is not an important criterion, what matters is your contribution to the company. The skills required for that particular profession is what you have to acquire and the process of acquisition has to start today.
Mr. Rao continued saying, the stars in your eyes come from the aspirations in your mind and the joy in your heart. Firstly, students should analyse if they can read or listen better and then use this time to strengthen themselves and dedicate 50% of browsing time towards academics. Today, power of learning is high and one should capitalise it as it is never too late to learn and never too late till the tired heart shall cease to palpitate. Remembering Mahatma Gandhiji’s quote, he concluded saying be the change that you want to see for the better future.
