The Department of Post Graduate Studies in Commerce organized one day National level Conference on “Recent Trends in Commerce & Management” and one day inter-collegiate commerce & management fest on 18Th February 2020. Dr. Udayachandra P.N, HOD and Co-ordinator, Department of PG Studies in Commerce, welcomed the gathering for the national conference. Dr.M.S.Moodithaya, Pro- Vice Chancellor, Nitte University, inaugurated the conference and delivered the key note address. Dr M.S Moodithaya emphasized on the education system which should inculcate values, culture, technically advanced, and socially stable which transforms them into intellectual personalities. The chief guest of the National conference was Prof. Satheeshchandra.S, Principal, SDM College, Ujire.
Dr. B Yashovarma, Secretary, SDM Society, in his presidential address, said that there is a rapid change which is taking place in the modern business and management. The guest of honor, Dr. B Ganapayya, Dean of PG Studies, witnessed and appreciated the conduct of the national conference. There was a technical session by Dr. Deviprabha Alva, Associate professor, Department of commerce & Management, St.Agnes College, Mangaluru. There were 4 parallel sessions of paper presentations for faculty members and contest for students in the forenoon and afternoon session.There were 28 papers submitted by the students for the paper presentation contest and 25 papers by the faculty members of various colleges for the conference.
To encourage the participants to come up with innovative ideas and plans Quiz, Marketing, Best out of waste, Best Management Team competitions and spot events were conducted. Students of 21 colleges participated in the event.
The Valedictory ceremony was held at SDM PG Centre at 4.30 PM. Dr. Suresh Babu K.N, welcomed the gathering. An executive report of the conference and events was presented by Dr. Priyakumari S.V. Dr. Ganapayya B, Dean, PG Center, SDM College (Autonomous) Ujire, was the chief guest of the valedictory session. Dr. Muruganandan S, Assistant Professor, Department of PG studies in Commerce, rendered the vote of thanks. Ms. M AnanyaPrabhu , Ms. Sahana N Patwardhan, Canara College Mangaluru and Ms. Chaitra, Govt First Grade College, Belthangady won awards for the best paper presentation.The overall Championship was won by St. Thomas College, Belthangady and the runners were Sapantia Bethany College, Nelyady
