Ujire, 12-09-2024: The SDM Postgraduate Centre has hosted its Orientation Program 2024-25 for first-year postgraduate students. The event held at Indraprastha Auditorium was marked by distinguished guest Dr. Ravindra Vikram Singh, Director, and Head – India R&D Technology & Innovation, Sigma Aldrich, Bangalore, and his inspiring speech, set an optimistic tone for the academic year ahead.
He gave his golden rule of HIRA, which stands for H- honesty, I- Innovation, R- Resilience, A- Aim high motivated the students to achieve academic and overall excellence. “Motivated students can achieve ambitious goals. Motivated individuals should also avoid over critiquing others” said the hounarable innaugrator.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Satheeshchandra S, Secretary of SDM Educational Society, Ujire, who delivered the guest of honour talk. Dr. Satheeshchandra shared insights on the educational philosophy of SDM institutions and the importance of holistic development during postgraduate studies. He said that the students should make the best use of time to become the ‘Masters’ of the subject and their own life. Becoming Masters also means gaining knowledge along with wisdom, he added.
Dr. B A Kumara Hegde, Principal of SDM College, Ujire, presided over the function. In his presidential remarks, Dr. Hegde outlined the college’s vision for its postgraduate programs and encouraged students to make the most resources available to them. “Students of master’s should go beyond the boundries to extend the current knowledge streams” he added.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Sri S N Kakathkar, Vice Principal of SDM College Ujire. Mr. Kakathkar’s words set a welcoming atmosphere, helping new students feel at home in their new academic environment.
Dr. Vishwanath P, Dean of PG Studies at SDM College PG Centre Ujire, delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to the guests, faculty, and staff for their contributions to the successful organization of the event.
The orientation program at SDM PG Centre, Ujire, successfully laid the foundation for the upcoming academic year, providing new students with the information and motivation needed to excel in their postgraduate studies.
