SDM College, Ujire, hosted a one-day national seminar on Computational Mathematics in Navigating Complex Real-World Issues on August 29. The event was organized by the college’s Mathematics Department in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and in association with Manipal Institute of Technology.
Dr. Satishchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Institutions, inaugurated the seminar. In his address, he emphasized the role of mathematics and science in computing, highlighting how they facilitate faster and more accurate data analysis to solve real-life problems.
Presiding over the event, Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde, Principal of SDM College, stressed the universal applicability of mathematics, noting its significance even in the medical field. He advised students to integrate mathematical principles into their daily lives, not just focus on achieving high grades. The seminar featured expert talks by Dr. Indira K.P., Dr. B. Ramesh Shankar, and Dr. Mahesh Kumar. The event was well-attended by students and faculty from various institutions.
The program began with a prayer by Sumukh, and the Head of the Mathematics Department, B. Ganesh Nayak, welcomed the gathering. Akshata B. delivered the vote of thanks, and Poojita Verma Jain compered the event.
