‘Kotikantha Gita Gayana’ at SDM College

As part of the ambitiousproject  ‘Kotikantha Gita Gayana’ of thegovernment of Karnataka, Department of Kannada and Culture, the professors and students of the SDM college expressed their love for Kannada through group singing.More than two thousand people gathered in this program which was held in Indraprastha Hall of the college and sang six famous songs of Kannada melodiously.Starting from the song, "Udayavagali Namma cheluva Kannada Nadu…", "Hachchevu Kannada Deepa..", "Vishva Vinutana Vidyachetana..", "Barisu Kannada Dindimava..", "Huttidare Kannada Nadali Nadu hutta beku.." the song was meaningfully celebrated by presentingwith the help of background music.

More than 125 musically trained students along with students from all departments of the college made the program a success by. Principal of the college Dr. Udayachandra who started the program, he expressed the hope that the programs held on the occasion of Rajyotsava will be held with similar spirit in coming years.

Dr. Kumar Hegde, Head of Botany Department of the college spoke in this occasion, “Kannada is a rich language that has bagged nine Jnanpith awards. The government’s move to increase national devotion in the entire state through programs like Kotikantha song singing is welcome," he said. The head of the cultural department of the college Dr. Sudhir K.V. And other lecturers were present. Professor Dr. Mahesh Shetty narrated the program.
