Critical Perspectives to Literature

For the interpretation of literature the higher reader or a superior critic needs to have an expertise on the literary nuances and the critical judgements for an accurate analysis of literature, said Dr. Shubhamshu Bhushan Raju, Professor at Manipal Academy for Higher Education (MAHE). He was speaking in the workshop on Basics of Literary Theories held on 20th and 21st August in the Department of PG Studies in English, Sdm college Ujire. The Centre for European Studies of Manipal Academy of Higher Education in association with the Dept of English Sdm college Ujire organized a two day programmme. The Resource persons Dr Shubhamshu Bhushan Raju, Dr. Praveen Shetty, Dr. Aravind Bhat, Dr Vishnumoorthy Prabhu, and Prof. Prathapchandra. T had deliberated on topics – Classical Theory: Aristotle; Classical Theory: Plato; Theory of Poetry: Wordsworth; Theory of Poetry: ST Coleridge; Theory of Poetry: TSEliot; Twentieth Century Literary Theory; Post Modern Theories- Structuralism and Existentialism; Why Literary Theories. The programme in fact initiated some thoughts in terms of future joint programmes. Dr. Shankaranarayan k, Coordinator, Dr. Madhav Bhat, Faculty, and Dr. Shashikant Kurody, Faculty Coordinated the workshop. Mr. Srinidhi, 11MA Student compered the programme. All students of MA English and BA Optional English participated in the programme.
