‘Socio-economic development is the main motto of research activities’ said Prof. K. Byrappa, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Adi Chunchanagiri University, and former Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University. He was delivering an expert talk in the ‘Seminar on Research Proposal Writing’ organized by Research Committee and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (PARAMARSH Scheme) at PG Center, SDM College (Autonomous, Ujire. He emphasized on the academy and research and said, everyone should do research for the benefit of self, Institution and the Country. He pointed out that the time frame, research title, objectives, methodology and current needs are the key factors to get a research grant. He also touched upon the salient features of New Education Policy-2020 which also gives importance to research along with teaching. ‘The need of the hour is research in thrust areas of natural sciences and research should be a passion’, he added. Prof. Byrappa gave a long list of granting agencies in different areas of science, commerce and social sciences. In the second session, Prof. Byrappa interacted with faculty members about research methodologies and output, and significance of having MoUs with other Institutions. He briefed the research facilities available at Adi Chunchanagiri University. Dr. Satheeshchanda S, Principal of SDM College (Autonomous, Ujire welcomed the gathering. Prof. K. Byrappa was felicitated on this occasion. Dr. Shankaranarayana K, IQAC Co-ordinator proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Nefisath P., Assistant Professor, PG Department of Chemistry was the master of ceremony. Dr. Shivarama Holla, Senior Professor, PG Department of Chemistry, Dr. Vishwanatha P, Dean, PG Studies, and all Heads of the Departments were present in the seminar. About 120 delegates participated in the seminar.
