The SDM College in Ujire hosted the SDM Nenapinangala Annual Reunion 2024, an event organized by the SDM Alumni Association. During the event, N. Satyanarayana Holla, President of the Bangalore Chapter of the SDM Alumni Association, emphasized the importance of giving back to society to reduce one’s moral debt, stating that life cannot be truly meaningful without fulfilling this responsibility.
Dr. Satishchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Institutions, highlighted the 58-year legacy of SDM College in Ujire, established by the late Ratnavarma Heggade. He noted that the institution has been instrumental in shaping the futures of countless students, particularly those from rural backgrounds. Dr. Satishchandra also underscored the responsibility of alumni to guide current students, contributing to the institution’s continued excellence and reputation.
Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde, Principal of SDM College, praised the institution’s achievements in both academics and extracurricular activities. He expressed his appreciation for the alumni who continue to support the college and its students through various initiatives.
During the event, the Alumni Association donated a check of ₹5 lakhs for the students’ midday meal program. Additionally, the college honored students Sushanth Shetty and Siri Sharma for their outstanding achievements in sports.
Alumni Association President, Pitambar Heraje, remarked on the global impact of SDM alumni, who hold prestigious positions worldwide. He credited the institution’s growth and success to the strong foundation laid by former principal Dr. B. Yashovarma and the continuous efforts of the alumni community. The event concluded with a cultural performance by the Udupi-based Kalamayam group, adding a special touch to the memorable reunion.
