National Nanotechnology Day Celebrated at SDM College

"Nanotechnology is not limited to a single field; it relates to chemistry, physics, biology, and electronics," stated Dr. Santosh K. Tiwari, Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Nitte NMAM Institute of Technology. He spoke at the inauguration of the National Nanotechnology Day event organized by the Chemistry Department’s Crystal Club at SDM College on October 9.

Dr. Tiwari emphasized that biology is a crucial aspect of nanotechnology, highlighting its role in understanding small and invisible molecules. In his presidential address, Principal Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde noted the growing significance of nanotechnology in recent times. He suggested that it might offer possibilities for improving crop yields and identifying plant diseases for effective treatment. He encouraged students to consider specializing in nanotechnology, which could open up numerous job opportunities in the future.

During the event, prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions held on October 3 in celebration of National Nanotechnology Day. The event was attended by KP Nandakumari, Head of the Chemistry Department, along with faculty members and students. Shreya S. Bhat welcomed the guests, Vaidehi and her team led the prayers, Girish Krishna delivered the vote of thanks, and Ruchira served as the event host.
