"Many of the conflicts we witness globally stem from the belief that one is superior to others. In striving to achieve this misguided goal, we are destroying our world," said Retired Major General M.V. Bhat during a program marking International Peace Day at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire, on October 3.
The event was organized by the Department of Political Science in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Belthangady. Major General Bhat emphasized the importance of International Peace Day, officially declared by the United Nations in 1981, and the need for more such observances in today’s conflict-ridden world. Presiding over the event, Vice Principal S.N. Kakatkar said, "We, as Indians, are peace-loving people, and we should take pride in our heritage." Rotary Club Secretary Sandesh Rao, former secretary Vidyakumar, and Political Science faculty members Bhagyashree and Shivakumar were also present. Ananth Francis welcomed the gathering, Kusumashree introduced the guests, and Supritha delivered the vote of thanks. Harshitha M.K. compered the event.
