The SDM Postgraduate Centre celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm on November 6. The event included traditional rituals such as Saraswati Pooja, Lakshmi Pooja, Balindra Pooja, and Go Pooja. Agricultural tools and books were also worshipped on this occasion.
Dr. Satishchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Society, addressed the students as the chief guest and explained the historical and cultural significance of Diwali. Presiding over the event, Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde, Principal of SDM College, spoke about the challenges posed by growing technology and social media, emphasizing that festivals like Diwali play a vital role in preserving human relationships and fostering moral stability in an era of increasing isolation and divided families.
The program featured a traditional Pilinalike performance by Dharmasthala’s Classic Tigers, where Hulivesha dancers showcased their art and bravery. Students celebrated by bursting crackers, sharing sweets, and spreading joy.
