Celebration of International Mole Day

On 23rd October 2020, the Department of Chemistry observed “International Mole Day” which was created to generate interest in the subject of Chemistry. Speaking on the history and significance of Mole day, Ms. Swathi. M of III B.Sc, B section said , “Mole day is celebrated every year on 23 October from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m to commemorate Avogadro’s Number (6.023×1023) which is a basic unit of measuring in chemistry. She also said that Avogadro’s work was recognized nearly fifty years after he had made his hypothesis, when two years after his death his colleague, showed how the utilisation of Avogadro’s number could solve many of the problems in chemistry”.

On this occasion, the first issue of departmental digital magazine ‘e-Spatika’ was unscreened by Mrs.Nanda Kumari.K.P, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry. The programme was co-ordinated by Ms.Sandhya.M. of III B.Sc B section. Ms. Prerana welcomed the gathering and Ms.Rakshitha B.B.proposed vote of thanks.The programme conducted on Google meet platform was witnessed by 108 participants.
