The Department of Chemistry organized the inaugural ceremony of the Chemistry Student Association ‘Spatika’ on 18 July, 2025. Moulya S. Jain was elected as the President, and Sinchana D. S. as the Vice-President of the Spatika Association for the academic year 2025–26. The programme was presided over by Dr. Vishwanatha P, Principal of the college, who delivered the presidential address and shared his inspiring words with the students. Mrs. Nanda Kumari K. P., Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Chemistry, spoke on the importance of subject associations in enhancing soft skills and overall development of the students. The inaugural function was followed by a guest lecture on the topic “Nurturing Mental Wellness in College Life” by Dr. Ashwini Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of PG Studies and Research in Psychology. In her guest lecture, Dr. Ashwini highlighted the importance of mental health in college life and discussed the impact of technology on well-being. She addressed critical issues such as excessive screen time, social media overuse, cyberbullying, emotional harassment, and tech addiction. She encouraged students to build self-confidence, regulate screen usage, and develop healthy habits for concentration and productivity. She also shared strategies to overcome procrastination and reduce dependency on social media. The session ended with valuable interaction.
Prashanth Shivaling Pujari of II B.Sc. welcomed the gathering, while Jyosthna, also from II B.Sc., proposed the vote of thanks. Anvita Sera, II B.Sc., efficiently anchored the programme as the Master of Ceremony.
All faculty members of the department actively participated in making the event a success. Approximately 148 students attended and benefited from the session.
