Workshop on Prevention of Ragging, Drug Abuse, Sexual Harassment and Awareness on Environmental Protection

On 8th February 2020, NSS Units and Youth Red Cross Unit of the college organised One Day Workshop on Prevention of Ragging, Drug Abuse, Sexual Harassment and Awareness on Environmental Protection. 

The workshop was organised as per the Mangalore University circular for the selected students of Sacred Heart College, Madangthyar, Prasanna Polytechnic College, Belthangady and SDM College of Education, Ujire and the NSS and Rovers and Rangers of our college. The workshop was inaugurated by S Satheeshchandra, Principal, SDM College, Ujire and it was followed by four sessions on various themes of the workshop. 

In the first session, Sri Deviprasad, Coordinator, Jana Jagriti Vedike, Belthangady enlightened the students on Drug Abuse, its effects, the role of students towards the prevention etc. 

In the second session, on Sexual harassment, Resource Person Ms. Asha, Asst. Professor in College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Ujire educated the invitees about the nature and causes of sexual harassment and the care one needs to take to overcome the harassment in the society.

The third session was devoted for Prevention of Ragging. Mr. Laurence P.R, Head Constable, Police Station, Belthangady provided the details of legal implications on ragging and the responsibilities of students in this regard.  

 

In the last session, Dr. B.A Kumara Hegde, Head, Dept of Botany enlightened the members of workshop about human atrocities on the nature and the role of every individual in protecting environment for a better future. Around 50 students participated and benefited from the workshop.
