Vivek Alva, Managing Trustee of Alvas Education Trust, Moodbidri, expressed that Dr. D. Veerendra Hegde, the Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, has contributed significantly to the modern social development by providing a model for comprehensive progress based on traditional values.
He was speaking at a special lecture titled "Dr. D. Veerendra Hegde’s Life and Achievements: A Role Model for Youth" organized at SDM College on the occasion of Hegde’s birthday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Satishchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Society, highlighted that Dr. Veerendra Hegde’s contributions extend beyond religious activities to include comprehensive development projects for the general public. His ideals and social initiatives serve as life lessons for everyone.
Puran Verma, CEO of IT and Hostel Management at SDM Educational Society, remarked that Dr. Hegde’s simple way of life has made him a model for others. Despite being at the top, he treats everyone equally. His divine strength enables him to undertake development activities that others may not be able to.
Presiding over the event, Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde, Principal of SDM College, emphasized that Dr. Veerendra Hegde’s visionary thinking, strong determination, efficiency, and disciplined life are exemplary for students.
On the occasion of Dr. Hegde’s 76th birthday, Vivek Alva distributed 76 saplings (mango and jackfruit) to students as a symbolic gesture. The event was attended by Dr. Ashok Kumar T., Principal of SDM Engineering College, Ujire, along with other dignitaries. The program was welcomed by Shashishekar N. Kakathkar, Vice-Principal of SDM College, and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Vishwanath P., Dean of the Postgraduate Centre. Dr. Mahesh Kumar Shetty, Assistant Professor, conducted the event.
