Three-Day International Conference on Chemistry at SDM College, Ujire

A three-day international conference on “Innovations in Chemistry: Materials and Medicines for Sustainable Society” was inaugurated at SDM College, Ujire, organised by the Department of Studies and Research in Chemistry, SDM Postgraduate Centre.
Inaugurating the conference, Dr. Satishchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Society, said that scientific research across disciplines must contribute to sustainable development while strengthening the economy.
Chief guest Dr. Ulrich K. Rößler, researcher from the Institute of Solid State Physics, Leibniz, Germany, observed that research freedom is under threat in many Western countries, including the U.S. and Europe. He stressed the need to preserve academic freedom and integrate scientific research globally.
Presiding over the function, Principal Dr. Vishwanatha P. highlighted that scientific innovations are deeply interconnected with daily life and that chemical research should aim to support sustainability and human welfare.
Eminent scientists including Dr. R. Shivaram Holla, former Professor, Mangalore University; Dr. Ramesh K., Director, Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu; and Dr. Bhanu Manjunath Narayan, Managing Director, Syngenta Biosciences Pvt. Ltd., Goa, graced the occasion.
Conference convener and Dean Dr. Sowmya B.P. welcomed the gathering, organisational secretary Dr. Shashiprabha proposed the vote of thanks, and Assistant Professor Dr. Nafeesath P. compered the programme.
