The postgraduate centre of SDM College in Ujire, Karnataka, celebrated Diwali on November 11. The event began with a puja conducted by priest Sudarshan Tantri Edpadavu. The puja included Gopuja, Vahana Puja, Ayudha Puja, Sharada Puja, and Lakshmi Puja. Prasad was distributed after the puja. The event was attended by Sonia Yashovarma, the chief guest. She spoke about the importance of festivals in our culture. She said that festivals play a vital role in maintaining the health of individuals and society.
The chief guest also honored Dr. Ravishankar Padumale, a professor at SDM College of Technology, Ujire, who was awarded the District Rajyotsava Award for folk art by the Dakshina Kannada district administration. The highlight of the event was a performance of ‘Pili Nalike’ by the Classical Tigers Dharmasthala troupe. Students also presented a cultural program. The event was a celebration of Diwali and a showcase of Indian culture and tradition.
