The orientation to the First year B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA students of our college was organized on 17th and 18th of June 2019 at Indraprastha Auditorium. Dr. B. P Sampath Kumar, the registrar Administration, welcomed the new students, parents and the staff. Presiding over the programme, the Principal Prof. Satheeshchandra .S. spoke about the college, its uniqueness, NAAC Accreditation, National level achievements, concern of the management and the role of students in higher education.
As a resource person, orienting the students, Dr. B.A Kumar Hegde spoke comprehensively about the activities, facilities that college provides, learning resource and the discipline in college and participation of students.
Prof. Shanthiprakash, registrar evaluation, described the semester scheme, examination, credit system, new CBCS and Elective papers.
Necessary information and guidance about various activities and committees was shared by co-ordinators. Dr. Sudheer, informed about cultural activities, drama centre, yakshagana and SDM Kalavaibhava. Mr. Sudeena spoke about sports activities and achievements.
Mr.G.R Bhat shared information about NSS, NCC, Rovers and Rangers and the officers incharge and the importance of these organizations. He emphasized the need to join these.
Mr. G.R. Bhat, the co-ordinator of the student welfare committee organized the programme and did master of ceremony. Mrs. Rathnavathi, the member of student welfare committee expressed vote of thanks.
On the second day of the orientation programme, Mr. Shailesh Kumar, the dept of Computer Science, oriented on the need of Computer awareness. He conducted the survey on the students’ need of basic computer knowledge.
In the second session, the students were divided stream wise. Dr. Jayakumar Shetty, the dean of Humanities engaged BA stream regarding CBCS, Elective papers. Dr. Sudheer, Prof. Bhaskar Hegde engaged the students on Elective subjects under CBCS.
Prof. Prakash Prabhu, the Dean of Science and Sri Ganesh Nayak oriented B.Sc students in connection with Elective papers. B.Com, BBA and BCA students were oriented by the respective departments.
