National Workshop on Molecular Docking & Electroanalytical Techniques (MDET -2023)

Constructive solution is possible with societal accountability – Dr. Ramakrishna Matte It is the responsibility of scientist to communicate scientific work for the benefit of society and also to apply the methodology to find solution to the immediate problems faced by the society, opined Dr. H S S Ramakrishna Matte, INYAS Member, Scientist-D, Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences, Bengaluru.

He was addressing as a chief guest at the National Workshop on Molecular Docking & Electroanalytical Techniques (MDET -2023) organized by Department of PG Studies and Research in Chemistry & Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS) on 06 June 2023.

The science has to deal with societal responsibility of providing solution to social problem. Every phase of social life should carefully observed and scientifically studied. Scientific research should not confine to laboratories, its scope should be wide as it applies to every functional activity of daily life. Only then, science could provide a meaningful solution to society’s crises with socially responsible citizen, he added.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. Satheeshchandra S., Secretary, SDM Educational Society, Ujire. Molecular docking and Electroanalytical techniques provide ideal solutions to challenges in health, climate and food production sector. Therefore research on this area is important, he said.

The Principal of the college, Dr. B A Kumara Hegde presided over the program. He said, curiosity is the mother of all sciences and it is the route cause of every invention in the world. So, students should develop the sense of curiosity.

Dean of PG studies, Dr. Vishwanatha P and former Head of the Department Prof. B. Shivarama Holla were present. The workshop coordinators, Dr. Sowmya B P welcomed and Dr. Nefisath P proposed vote of thanks. Student Ms. Sowjanya Shetty narrated the program. Anuradha and team offered the prayer.

The workshop included, the key note address, by Dr. H S S Ramakrishna Matte, two technical sessions and two hands-on training sessions by Dr. Manjunatha J G, Head, Department of Chemistry, Field Marshal KM Cariappa College, Constituent College of Mangalore University, Kaveri Campus, Madikeri and Dr. Ramith Ramu, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, Karnataka. Gathering of faculty members, research scholars and M.Sc. students was up to 195.

Valedictory of the workshop was addressed by Dr. Ramith Ramu as a chief guest and Dr. Vishwanatha P., presided over the program. Delegates from different institutions expressed their opinion. Dr. Shashiprabha welcomed the gathering, Dr. Naveen Kumar proposed vote of thanks and Ms. Prajna S K narrated the programme.
