The NCC Army Wing (Senior Division) at SDM stands as a bastion of leadership, operating as a distinguished sub-unit of the 18 Karnataka Battalion, Mangalore. Under the strategic guidance of the Mangalore Group and the “Karnataka and Goa” Directorate, our unit is currently led by Lt. Bhanuprakash B.E. With an elite authorized strength of 52 cadets, the wing focuses on transforming potential into unparalleled prowess.
Membership in the Senior Division is a gateway to a diverse spectrum of specialized national training. Our cadets are rigorous participants in prestigious arenas, ranging from the Thal Sainik Camp (TSC) and Republic Day Camp (RDC) to the culturally immersive Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programs.
The curriculum of the Army Wing extends far beyond the campus, offering high-impact experiences such as Army Attachment Camps, where cadets live alongside active-duty soldiers, as well as Advanced Leadership and All India Trekking expeditions. Through rock climbing, tactical training, and annual camps, we forge a corps of disciplined individuals ready to serve the nation with honor and technical skill.
A testament to the rising power of women in national service, the NCC Army Wing (Senior Wing) at SDM became an independent pillar of excellence in 2017. As a vital sub-unit of the 18 Karnataka Battalion, Mangalore, the Senior Wing provides a formidable platform for young women to cultivate courage and tactical expertise. Currently commanded by Lt. Shubharani P. S., the unit maintains a dedicated strength of 52 cadets who embody the spirit of “Unity and Discipline.”
Our cadets are a constant presence at the highest levels of NCC achievement. Every year, the wing sends its finest to represent the college at the Thal Sainik Camp (TSC) and the Republic Day Parade (RDC) in New Delhi. Through a rigorous calendar of Army Attachment Camps, Advanced Leadership training, and All India Trekking expeditions, the Senior Wing shatters stereotypes and bridges the gap between civilian life and military precision.
From the heights of Rock Climbing Training (RCTC) to the cultural synergy of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB), the Senior Wing is more than a training program—it is a community of trailblazers being prepared to lead the nation with grace and strength.
Launched in 1969 to commemorate the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi, the National Service Scheme (NSS) at SDM is a cornerstone of our commitment to social responsibility. Since its inception on our campus in 1972, the NSS has served as a transformative platform where students bridge the gap between the classroom and the community, embodying the motto: “Not Me, But You.”
Our units are dedicated to a diverse range of grassroots initiatives that foster both civic sense and environmental stewardship. Key focus areas include:
