The United Nations designated 5th June as World Environment Day to highlight that the protection and health of the environment is a major issue, which affects the well-being of peoples and economic development throughout the world.This year 50th World Environment Day is celebrated with the theme ‘Solution to Plastic Pollution’. In order to mark this day, the Department of PG Studies and Research in Chemistry, under the department association CONCHEM organised an intra-departmental skit competition on 21 February 2023.
Nine teams from M.Sc. Chemistry and Organic Chemistry performed skit on topics such as harmful effects of plastic, the present and future scenario of the Earth, replacement of non-biodegradable objects such as plastic bags with cloth bags, plastic bottles with steel ones for a sustainable life, conservation and rejuvenation of river Ganga, etc.All the students have participated enthusiastically in this event.
Through this programme, the association believes that the students have gained awareness about the importance of conserving our environment and spread the same to the rest of the society as responsible citizens. Ms. Prajna S K from I M.Sc. Chemistry welcomed the gathering and Ms. ChaitraS from II M.Sc. Chemistry narrated the program.The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Shruthi V S from I M.Sc. Chemistry.
