Discussion Forum on ‘Social Media’ Held at SDM College

A thought-provoking discussion on Social Media was organized by the Kannada Department in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at SDM College on October 4. The event, titled Maatu Manthana (Debate Forum), focused on the positive and negative impacts of social media.

Participants deliberated on how social media influences various aspects of life, including its effects on the environment, physical and mental health due to network usage, and its role in national development, employment opportunities, and education. Presiding over the event, Principal Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde emphasized that while social media has enriched many lives, it has also caused harm to others. "It is important to understand how to use social media effectively," he noted.

Faculty members including Suryanarayana Bhat, Suveer Jain, Dr. Padmanabha, and Dr. Geetha, along with students Mansa Agnihotri, Sharanappa, Chintan, and Rangaswamy actively participated in the discussion. Dr. Divakara Kokkada from the Kannada Department coordinated the event. Dr. Bojamma K.N., Head of the Kannada Department, welcomed the gathering, while Prof. G.R. Bhat, Head of the English Department and IQAC President, delivered the vote of thanks.
