Topic: Library Resources: Reference Management and Plagiarism I
Introduction to Central library at NITK Surathkal was given by the resource person. Facility provided and open access provisions are discussed in the session. Online digital services like library website, online library catalogue, institutional digital repository, IRINS faculty profile, e- library portal links were shared with the participant. Promotion of academic integrity: prevention of plagiarism under this context how to use Turnitin software was made to understand to the participant.
Technical session 17
Topic: Library Resources: Reference Management and Plagiarism II
The resource person practically demonstrated the plagiarism checker online. Made the participant to understand the usage in the validation process and publication of research articles were intimated. Finally, precautions, safety and how to handle the issues regarding the plagiarism percentage was thought in the session. Participant had the discussion on their quarries at the end.
Valediction
The valedictory of the Five Day Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodology was held at Seminar hall-2 of SDM PG Centre, Ujire. The Chief Guest was the Dr. Mallikarjun Angadi, Librarian, NITK, Surathkal. Dr. Angadi pointed out the importance of research in academic field and also highlighted the importance of citation during his valedictory address. Dr. B. A. Kumara Hegde presided over the function. He praised the effort of Research and Development Cell of the college for successfully conducting this programme. “The participants of this programme should use the knowledge for their research and also spread it among the collegues” he added. Prof. Vishwanatha P, Dean, PG Studies was also present. The participants were happy about this Hands-on-training programme. Dr. Maheshbabu N welcomed the valediction, Dr. Rajesh N Hegde presented the volte of thanks and Ms. Ashwini Shetty was the master of ceremony.
