A play titled ‘Bendre Andare..?’, based on the life of renowned Kannada poet Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre, fondly known as ‘Kannada’s Tagore,’ was recently performed at Dharmasthala. The play was part of the 26th annual Bhajana Workshop organized by the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Bhajana Parishat and was staged as a cultural program for the attendees at Vasanth Mahal.
Written by Sadananda B. Mundaje and directed by Yashavanth Beltangady (Neenasam), the play featured standout performances from alumni Skanda Bhargav as Bendre, Amit as the narrator, Madhavi as Godubai, and Sharanya as Lakshmibai. Music for the play was composed by third-year student Madan M., with Subrahmanya G. Bhat assisting with instruments. Several students, including Amritavarshini, Ullekh, Gauravi, and others, also contributed to the performance.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, along with Matrushree Hemavathi V. Heggade, Sonia Yashovarma, and other dignitaries. Bhajana workshop participants also attended.
