Ujire – The NCC unit of SDM College, Ujire, organized a programme on September 25 to commemorate World Rivers Day and raise awareness about river conservation and the importance of water resources.
The chief guest, Dr. Geetha A.J., Assistant Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at SDM Postgraduate Centre, emphasized the active role students should play in environmental protection and river conservation. She drew a parallel between life and rivers, explaining that just as a river carries stones and thorns along its course, we too must face challenges in life and continue moving forward.
Presiding over the event, NCC Officer Lieutenant Dr. Bhanuprakash B.E. highlighted the significance of making every step in life a correct decision, as life, like a flowing river, cannot flow backward. He encouraged NCC cadets to actively participate in social service initiatives focused on river and water conservation.
The event also featured the launch of the NCC unit’s new bulletin and a screening of the documentary ‘Kapperaaga’. Cadet Jashmit welcomed the gathering, Cadet Sheetal introduced the chief guest, Corporal Ramaswamy offered felicitations, and Corporal Unnati compered the programme.
The event successfully blended awareness, education, and student participation, underscoring the importance of environmental stewardship and responsible action toward water resources.
