Ujire Hosts ‘Rainathon’ – 5K Run to Raise Awareness Against Drug Abuse

In a spirited initiative to raise awareness against drug abuse among youth, a unique 5-kilometer run titled ‘Ujire Rainathon’ was organized on June 29 amidst rainy weather in Ujire. The event was led by Vyayam Fitness and CrossFit, in collaboration with SDM Educational Society, Rotary Club Belthangady, Baduku Kattuvona Banni Seva Trust, SDM Multi-Specialty Hospital Ujire, South Canara Police Department, and Belthangady Taluk Journalists’ Association, among others.
The event was flagged off at Shri D. Rathnavarma Heggade Sports Ground at SDM College by Prof. P.L. Dharma, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University. Addressing the crowd, he praised the collective effort of local organizations in promoting a drug-free India, calling it a “testament to social transformation.”
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Cyber Crime), Dakshina Kannada, Manjunath R.G., administered an anti-drug pledge to all participants, reinforcing the mission of the run.
