Two-Day National Seminar on Life Sciences Begins at SDM College, Ujire

Ujire, Jan 23: A two-day National Seminar on “Emerging Frontiers in Life Science: Innovation for Sustainable Development” was inaugurated at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (Autonomous) Degree College, Ujire. The seminar is jointly organised by the Departments of Biotechnology and Botany in collaboration with the IQAC at the college’s Indraprastha Auditorium.

The programme was inaugurated by DRDO Scientist ‘G’ and Director (Personnel), New Delhi, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi, by lighting the lamp. He stressed the need for eco-friendly research and sustainable innovations using biological resources, highlighting the role of young researchers in addressing environmental challenges.

Chief guest Avinash Rao, Founder and CEO of Agrileaf Exports Pvt. Ltd., said education is the foundation that shapes life and the future. He encouraged students to be creative, research-oriented and entrepreneurial by effectively using available resources.

Presiding over the function, Vice Principal Nanda Kumari K.P. emphasised the importance of academic, co-curricular and practical exposure through national-level programmes.

Abhijith badiger, HOD, Faculty members, students from various colleges across Karnataka, and research scholars participated. On the first day, over 35 students from Bengaluru, Davanagere, Madikeri, Mangaluru and Shivamogga presented research papers.
