Ujire – “Technology should serve as a supportive tool in research, not as a decisive factor that controls human intellect,” said Dr. K. Chinnappa Gowda, former Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Folklore University, Haveri.
He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day workshop on “Research Writing and Publication – A Methodological Perspective” organized recently by the Research and Development Cell of SDM Postgraduate Centre, Ujire, for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Dr. Gowda stressed that technology must reduce the researcher’s burden and act as an assistant, but the researcher should remain the central force. “Without a researcher, technology is meaningless. Technology itself is a product of human inquiry, so research must remain human-centric rather than technology-centric,” he observed.
Presiding over the programme, SDM College Principal Dr. Vishwanath P. said the path of research is challenging but rewarding. He added that the college organizes such workshops to encourage more students to pursue research.
Dean of SDM PG Centre Dr. Soumya B.P. welcomed the gathering, while Dr. Divakara K. and Dr. Sudarshan P. coordinated the event.
