“Students can become the greatest wealth of society only when they are inspired by every positive step and development,” said noted orator N.R. Damodhar Sharma Barkur. He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Students’ Council 2025-26 and various Students’ Activity Fora at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (Autonomous) College, Ujire, on August 13.
Highlighting the importance of determination and self-confidence in student life, he remarked that every student carries a talented warrior within, who can grow into a leader. “Our surroundings are filled with inspiring personalities. Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade himself is a living example before our eyes, from whom students must draw inspiration,” he said.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. Satishchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Society, urged students to participate actively in both curricular and co-curricular activities, emphasizing that the Students’ Council serves as a significant platform for nurturing skills and talents.
Presiding over the function, Principal Dr. Vishwanath P. administered the oath to the newly elected student representatives. He advised students to pursue their academic journey with a clear vision for the future, stressing that consistent effort and perseverance are essential to achieve their goals.
On this occasion, the journalism students’ lab journal “Chiguru” and a wall magazine depicting the highlights of the inauguration were released.
Mr. Shreyas B., Coordinator of the Student Welfare Committee, welcomed the gathering. Final-year BA student coordinator Chandan proposed the vote of thanks, while Dharitri Bhide and Jayasurya compered the programme.
