“The contribution of story tradition to Kannada literature is immense. Fiction is not merely about weaving emotions but also a means to express one’s perspectives on society and history,” said noted short story writer and Professor of Kannada at the Central University of Kerala, Dr. Govindaraj N. Kallur.
He was addressing students as the resource person at a Story Writing Workshop organized by the Kannada Sangha of the Department of Kannada, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (Autonomous) College, Ujire, on August 12.
Dr. Govindaraj observed that every individual carries stories within, and literature provides the medium to express and relieve this creative urge. “Literature transcends barriers and continues to flow across ages, reshaping itself in tune with the times. By cultivating story writing, we gain deeper insights into both the inner and outer dimensions of society,” he remarked.
Presiding over the programme, Dr. Gajanan R. Bhat, Coordinator of IQAC and Head of the Department of English, said that in the present fast-paced life where there is little time for lengthy reading, short fiction helps readers connect quickly with emotions and life experiences.
Dr. Bojamma K.N., Head of the Department of Kannada, faculty members, and students were present. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Rajashekar Halemane, who also delivered the introductory remarks. Shifan proposed the vote of thanks, while Amrutha compered the event.
