Special Care Needed to Enrich Kannada’s Essence: Prof. Krishnegowda

Ujire – “Kannadigas must give priority to strengthening the essence of Kannada while also learning significant ideas from globally recognized languages like English,” said noted orator and retired Kannada professor, Prof. Krishnegowda.
He was delivering a special lecture on “Kannada as a Treasure of Emotions” during the “Arivina Deeveege” lecture series organized recently by the Kannada Department of SDM College in memory of Dr. B. Yashovarma. Prof. Krishnegowda observed that Kannada is not just a medium of expression but a unique bond between speakers and their language, shaping identity and offering a distinct way of perceiving the world.
Guest speaker Sonia Yashovarma recalled her admiration for Prof. Krishnegowda, noting that Dr. Yashovarma was a devoted follower of his talks on Udaya TV and an avid reader with interests in religion, history, and literature.
Presiding over the programme, SDM College Principal Dr. Vishwanath P. said Dr. B. Yashovarma left a lasting legacy through disciplined administration, eco-conscious vision, and student welfare initiatives.
Dr. Bojamma K.N., Head of the Kannada Department, welcomed the gathering. Assistant Professor Bhavyashree compered the programme, while Dr. Naganna D.A. proposed the vote of thanks.
