Ujire: The Department of B.Voc in Digital Media and Film Making at SDM Autonomous College, Ujire, organised a special interactive session on filmmaking, content creation, and digital branding, offering students valuable insights into the creative, technical, and marketing aspects of the media industry.
The session featured Hyderabad-based filmmaker and founder of Lights Camera Woman, Navya Nagesh, who encouraged students to pursue their creative aspirations with confidence and continuously refine their skills. She highlighted the importance of developing a strong professional portfolio and explained that stories inspired by local culture and real-life experiences have the potential to resonate with audiences worldwide. She also emphasised the significance of careful planning in visual storytelling and encouraged students to observe contemporary events and everyday life for meaningful story ideas.
The programme also featured Kavya Nagesh, an IIT alumna and founder of Brand Cameo, Hyderabad. Speaking on the evolving media landscape, she stressed that creating compelling content alone is not enough in today’s competitive environment. She explained that effective branding, digital marketing, and strategic use of social media platforms are essential for ensuring that creative work reaches the right audience and achieves greater impact.
Students actively engaged with the speakers during the interactive session, gaining practical knowledge on filmmaking, storytelling, content strategy, personal branding, and digital promotion. The programme provided an excellent platform for aspiring media professionals to understand both the creative and commercial dimensions of the entertainment and digital media industries.
