Revive the Love for Literature, Says Dr. H.S. Satyanarayana at SDM College
Kannada Department Inaugurates 2025–26 Academic and Literary Association Activities
Ujire, July 15 — “The lost literary interest among students must be rekindled,” urged renowned critic Dr. H.S. Satyanarayana, speaking at the inauguration of the 2025–26 academic activities and Kannada Association at SDM College (Autonomous), Ujire.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Satyanarayana emphasized the importance of cultivating a strong literary sensibility among students in the age of digital distractions. He also commended the Ha.Ma. Nayak Research Centre at SDM College for actively promoting literary research and hosting national seminars and literary events. “Students should make the most of such rich academic and cultural platforms,” he advised.
Presiding over the event, Principal Dr. Vishwanath P. highlighted the long-standing history of the Kannada Association, tracing its roots back to the original Chintana Vedike, initiated by N.G. Patwardhan, which later evolved into the Kannada Association.
As part of the event, Assistant Professor Dr. Rajshekhar Halemane was felicitated for his contributions to the field of literature.
The program also featured the unveiling of a wall magazine by members of the association. Office bearers Manasa, Amrutha, Rangaswamy, Shifana, Swapna, and Sanketh, along with faculty and students from the department, were present.
Dr. B. Bojamma K.N., Head of the Kannada Department, welcomed the gathering. Student Sanketh proposed the vote of thanks, and the event was compered by Jeevith.
