Orientation Programme for Freshers

June 30: A two-day orientation programme was organized at SDM College, Ujire, for the newly admitted first-year undergraduate students. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Satishchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Society, who addressed both students and parents with a powerful message on the value of education.
“Education is the greatest power. It is not merely about gaining knowledge but also about acquiring skills to face challenges and solve problems in society,” said Dr. Satishchandra. He further emphasized that in earlier times, power was associated with wealth and property, but in today’s world, those who possess knowledge are considered truly powerful — both materially and intellectually.
The chief guest for the programme was Dr. Joseph N.M., former principal of Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar. He addressed the students, urging the youth of today to engage meaningfully with the flood of information around them, and to cultivate the ability to learn selectively and effectively.
Presiding over the function, Principal Dr. Vishwanath P. highlighted the institution’s commitment to providing quality education rooted in values and culture. “Our aim is to create an environment that fosters excellence and prepares students to compete on a global level,” he remarked.
Also present at the programme were S.N. Kakatkar, Academic Coordinator of SDM Educational Society; Nandakumari, Vice-Principal; Dr. Sridhar Bhat, Administrative Registrar; Ganesh Nayak, Examination Registrar; and G.R. Bhat, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The programme began with a prayer by Supreetha. Nataraj H.K., Coordinator of the Student Discipline Committee, welcomed the gathering. Chief Coordinator Shreyas B. delivered the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Abhilash.
