Nurturing Interests Alongside Studies is Essential: Badekkila Pradeep

Extracurricular activities serve as a foundation for life skills training, balancing academics while fostering personal growth. Alongside education, nurturing one’s interests is essential, stated renowned voice artist, anchor, and actor Badekkila Pradeep.

He was addressing the valedictory ceremony of ‘Kalarava,’ an inter-college and inter-class festival organized by the Department of Humanities at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College, Ujire, on February 24, where he was the chief guest.

“Extracurricular activities build strong personalities and keep individuals lively. Pursuing hobbies and interests alongside academics enables holistic development. Do not abandon your passions; let them be the fuel for your happiness,” he advised. Guest speaker and young entrepreneur Rajesh M.K. emphasized the importance of remembering one’s educational institutions and mentors. He encouraged students to develop life skills alongside formal education and contribute positively to society.

Dr. Vishwanath P., Dean of SDM Postgraduate Centre, presided over the event and stressed the significance of experiential learning beyond the classroom. “Success cannot be achieved through textbooks alone. Creativity, efficiency, and an openness to new ideas pave the way for innovation. Events like these play a crucial role in fostering such skills,” he remarked. The event featured eleven competitions. In the inter-college contests, Puttur’s Vivekananda College secured first place, while Roshni Nilaya College, Mangaluru, claimed second place. In the inter-class category, third-year BCA students won the overall championship. Prizes were distributed to the winners. College Administrative Secretary Dr. Sridhar Bhat, Dean of Arts Faculty Dr. Bhaskar Hegde, and Event Coordinator Dr. Sanmati Kumar were present on the occasion. Dr. Mahesh Kumar Shetty H., Manasa Agnihotri, and Manasvini announced the list of prize winners. Student representative Ameer welcomed the gathering, while Veesha presented the event report. Sudiksha delivered the vote of thanks, and Sinchana Kallooraya compered the event.
