NSS Annual Activities for 2025–26 Inaugurated at SDM College, Ujire
Students Urged to Uphold Values of Unity, Equality, and Humanity

Ujire, July 16 — The inauguration ceremony of the National Service Scheme (NSS) annual activities for the academic year 2025–26 was held at SDM College (Autonomous), Ujire, with great enthusiasm and participation.

Dr. Sheshappa K., NSS Coordinator of Mangalore University, inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering. In his speech, he emphasized that the NSS logo is not just a symbol but a powerful philosophy representing unity, equality, and humanity. He lauded the discipline and dedication of SDM students and the efficient organization of the college’s NSS unit. “Your efforts in community service truly reflect the spirit of the NSS,” he remarked, assuring continued support from the University.

Principal Dr. Vishwanatha P. released the new edition of the NSS wall magazine ‘Yuva Chethana’, highlighting the role of NSS volunteers in realizing Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of Ramarajya. “Our college, too, must aspire to become a model of Ramarajya,” he added.

As part of the ceremony, Assistant Professor Malini Anchan from the Department of Commerce was welcomed as the new NSS Program Officer. Outgoing Program Officer Deepa R.P. was felicitated for her dedicated service and impactful contribution to the unit. “In NSS, there is only entry—no exit,” she stated, inspiring students to continue their commitment to social service.

NSS leaders for the year 2025–26 were announced: T. Sudarshan Nayak (2nd B.Com D), Nevil Naveen Moras (2nd BA), Manya K.R. (2nd B.Com C), and Raksha R. Devadiga (2nd BCA B). In a meaningful transition ceremony, senior NSS leaders formally handed over responsibilities to the newly elected leaders, signifying continuity and leadership in service.

Former NSS leader Ramakrishna N. shared heartfelt experiences from his journey, motivating juniors with stories of learning, growth, and impact through NSS involvement.

A report on the previous year’s activities (2024–25) was presented by Varsha V., showcasing the various outreach, awareness, and volunteer initiatives undertaken by the unit.

Dr. Mahesh Kumar Shetty H., NSS Program Officer, welcomed the gathering. Manya introduced the chief guest, Raksha R. proposed the vote of thanks, and the event was efficiently compered by Sanusha Pinto and Shreja.
