Ujire, July 03 2026: The Department of B.Voc. in Digital Media and Film Making, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Autonomous College, Ujire, inaugurated the activities of its student association, LUMOS, for the academic year 2026–27. The association was inaugurated by Mr. Manjunath Kamath, founder of the popular social media page, Udupiya Kandeera.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Kamath advised students to pursue careers based on their passion and emphasized that success in the digital media industry depends on three key factors – creativity, clarity, content, and continuity. He encouraged students to develop professional skills during their academic years and actively engage in creative opportunities.
The programme was presided over by Mr. Madhava Holla, Head of the Department, who highlighted the role of student associations in fostering leadership, creativity, and personality development. Mr. K. Indudhar Kini, Assistant Professor, presented the annual report of the LUMOS Student Association for 2025–26 and administered the oath of office to the newly elected office bearers for 2026–27. Ms. Sinchana assumed office as President, Mr. Aditya Madalli as Secretary, while Ms. Hemalatha and Ms. Sindhu took oath as the Second Year and First Year Student Representatives, respectively.
Following the inauguration, Mr. Kamath delivered a guest lecture on “Visual Narratives: Independent Content Creation.” Drawing from his professional journey, he explained how active involvement in media-related activities during his student life laid the foundation for his career in digital media. He also discussed the growing opportunities in independent content creation and digital storytelling, motivating students to strengthen their creative and technical skills to succeed in the evolving digital landscape.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, providing students with valuable insights into professional content creation and the future of digital media.
