The Department of Home Science organized the inaugural ceremony of the Home Science Student Association ‘Gruhavani’ on 25 July, 2025, at Seminar Hall II. Miss. Anjali H. R. and Miss. Aishwarya H. R. were elected as the President and Vice-President of the Gruhavani Association for the academic year 2025–26, respectively.
The event began with a melodious prayer song rendered by Miss. Mayookha and friends, setting a serene tone for the occasion. Miss. Anjali H. R., President of Gruhavani Association, delivered the welcome speech, warmly addressing the gathering and highlighting the objectives of the association. Miss. Sanusha Pinto anchored the programme gracefully as the Master of Ceremony.
The inauguration was followed by a guest lecture on the topic “Empowering Young Minds Through Home Science – Learn for Life,” delivered by Prof. Alphonsamma, Former HOD of Home Science, SDM College, Ujire. The guest was cordially welcomed by Ms. Shobha S., HOD of the Home Science Department. In her lecture, Prof. Alphonsamma emphasized the critical role of Home Science in holistic education and personal empowerment, especially for young learners navigating life skills and career paths.
Miss. Sowjanya proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their contribution to the event’s success. The programme was well-coordinated by Ms. Aishwarya B. Kumbar, Staff Coordinator, Department of Home Science.
The event witnessed active participation from the I, II, and III-year B.A. Home Science students, along with the faculty members of the department. The programme was both insightful and engaging, marking a successful beginning to the Gruhavani Association’s activities for the academic year.
