Human Values Reflected in Kuvempu’s Works: Dr. Meenakshi Ramachandra

Mangaluru: “Kuvempu’s entire body of literature reflects deep human values and reverence for nature,” observed Dr. Meenakshi Ramachandra, noted writer and retired Kannada professor.
She was delivering a special lecture on “Kuvempu’s Literary Vision for the New Generation” at Besant Women’s College, Mangaluru, on October 25. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Kannada, SDM College, Ujire, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Pratishthana, Kuppalli, and the IQAC and Department of Kannada, Besant Women’s College.
Dr. Rajashekhara Nugadooni, coordinator of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Pratishthana, introduced the theme and urged students to visit Kuvempu’s birthplace and read his literary works.
Prof. Rajshekhar Hebbar C., Administrator of Besant Institutions, also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C., Principal of Besant Women’s College, presided over the programme.
Senior faculty members Jnaneshwari Y.M., Nishmitha K., Dr. Goutham G., and Jyothsna were present.
Dr. Giriyappa, Head of the Kannada Department, welcomed and introduced the guests. Students Sakshi D. Ameen, Shravya, Sinchana, and Deeksha Kamath rendered Kuvempu’s bhavageetes (lyrical poems). Raviraj S., Assistant Professor, compered the event, and Asha H.S. proposed the vote of thanks.
