God’s Vision Reflected in Teachers” – Dr. Shridhar N. Bhatt

Ujire – “Every teacher can be seen as a reflection of God, as they dispel the darkness in students’ lives and ignite the light of knowledge,” said Dr. Shridhar N. Bhatt, registrar of the Administration at SDM College, Ujire. He was speaking at the special Guru Smruti 2025 programme organized to celebrate Teachers’ Day at the college’s Indraprastha Auditorium.
Dr. Bhatt emphasized that just as one cleans a home from dust and debris, teachers remove unnecessary thoughts from students’ minds and sow positive ideas. He explained the meaning of “Guru”: ‘Gu’ represents darkness, and ‘Ru’ signifies removing darkness, highlighting that teachers guide students from ignorance to enlightenment. Teachers, he said, must go beyond academics to inspire curiosity, dedication, and moral values, helping students grow into responsible members of society.
Principal Dr. Vishwanatha P. presided over the programme and highlighted the invaluable role of teachers in imparting knowledge and preserving the cultural heritage and traditions of the country. Student representative Anvitha Sera shared her views about teachers’ impact on student life.
The event was attended by Vice Principal K.P. Nandkumari, registrar of the Examination Ganesh Nayak, PG Dean Soumya B.P., Commerce Dean Shakuntala, faculty members, and students. The programme commenced with a floral tribute and lamp lighting ceremony at the portrait of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Cultural performances and fun games for teachers were also organized, with students from various departments actively participating in the celebrations.
