Focus on Securing Government Jobs, Urges Dr. Prakash S. at SDM College

Ujire, July 14 — Dr. Prakash S., Development Officer at Koyyur Gram Panchayat, urged students of Dakshina Kannada region to take competitive examinations seriously and aim for government employment. He was speaking at the inauguration of the academic activities for 2025–26 organized by the Department of Economics and Rural Development at SDM College (Autonomous), Ujire.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Prakash emphasized that despite having access to several opportunities and facilities, students from the region often hesitate to appear for competitive exams. “Students must begin preparing and familiarizing themselves with these exams during their undergraduate studies. Early awareness and consistent effort can lead to success,” he said.

Introducing the event, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Shetty H., Assistant Professor of Economics, highlighted the importance of early career planning.

Presiding over the function, Dr. Gunaraj K., Head of the Department of Economics and Rural Development, underlined the significance of creativity in education. “Success in education comes not just from knowledge, but from creative thinking and innovative approaches,” he noted. He also reminded the audience of the department’s journey and achievements, encouraging students to uphold and build on its legacy.

Student representatives Puneeth and Suhaima shared their reflections on the event, while faculty members and students from the department were in attendance.

The program began with a prayer by Surya and Srushti of III BA. Achala and Vieksha compered the event, and Manav delivered the vote of thanks.
