In a bid to promote awareness and dispel myths surrounding menstruation, a special lecture was organized at SDM College, Ujire, on July 24. Dr. Priyanka Jayadev, a gynecologist at SDM Multi-Specialty Hospital, was the resource person for the event. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jayadev emphasized that menstruation is a natural process and nothing to be ashamed of. She highlighted the importance of maintaining hygiene during menstruation and discussed Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder affecting women of reproductive age.
Dr. Jayadev explained how PCOS impacts menstrual cycles and overall health. She stressed the need for early detection and treatment of PCOS to prevent long-term complications. College Principal Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde presided over the event and emphasized the significance of both mental and physical well-being. The program was jointly organized by the Women’s Development Cell, Student Welfare Committee, and Social Responsibility Initiatives Committee.
